Teachers, bus and truck drivers, airport employees, factory workers and customs agents held a 24-hour strike against Argentine President Mauricio Macri’s austerity measures.
Authorities used tear gas and water canon as workers pelted police with rocks.
Those on strike want a pay rise in line with inflation, which is currently running at 40 percent.
Dozens of people have been arrested.
